What Is Involved In Hearing Assessments?
A hearing assessment is a simple, non-invasive test that evaluates your ability to hear different sounds, pitches, and volumes. Our expert audiologists uses state-of-the-art technology to assess your hearing and provide personalised recommendations tailored to your needs.
We’ll start with an initial audiologist consultation about your hearing concerns, lifestyle, and medical history and then use an otoscope to check your ears for earwax build up, infections or blockages, and structural issues that could affect your hearing. We will then perform a range of tests.
Pure Tone Audiometry: Pure tone audiometry (PTA) is a hearing test that can measure a person’s hearing sensitivity across a range of frequencies, typically from 125 Hz to 8000 Hz.
Speech Audiometry: Speech audiometry, exposes the individual to a series of words or sentences at varying volumes and asking them to repeat what they hear. This study evaluates the functional impact of hearing loss on a person’s ability to communicate in everyday situations.
Immittance testing: Immittance testing is a type of hearing test that measures the movement of the eardrum and the middle ear in response to sound. It includes tests such as tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing, which can evaluate the function of the middle ear and identify issues such as fluid buildup, perforations of the eardrum, or other abnormalities.
Speech in Noise Testing: Speech in noise (SIN) testing is one of the most widely used techniques by independent audiologists in Australia to trace out the hearing capacity of individuals. During the test, the person being tested is typically presented with a sentence or series of words and asked to repeat them while background noise is played at different levels.

Video Otoscopy
Video otoscopy ensures we can visually examine your ear canal to confirm the presence of wax or other debris. Our clients will be able to see their ear canal status in real time.

Immitance Testing
Commonly referred as Tympanometry, this test is performed to confirm the results of audiometric testing. It is mainly conducted to assess the status of middle ear function and identify middle ear pathology including the status of eustachian tube function.

The Benefits of a Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation
Hearing loss often develops gradually, making it easy to overlook until it starts affecting your daily interactions. Regular hearing tests help:
- Detect Early Signs of Hearing Loss – Early hearing loss diagnosis allows for better treatment options.
- Improve Communication – Good hearing helps you stay engaged in conversations without frustration.
- Enhance Overall Wellbeing – Untreated hearing loss has been linked to cognitive decline, social isolation, and even increased risk of falls.
- Identify Underlying Conditions – Sometimes, hearing loss is a symptom of an underlying health issue such as ear infections or excessive earwax buildup.
- Support a Better Quality of Life – Clear hearing means more confidence, independence, and enjoyment of daily activities.
Signs That You Need Professional Hearing Screening
Hearing tests aren’t just for seniors – anyone can benefit from regular assessments. You should consider a hearing test if:
- You often ask people to repeat themselves.
- You struggle to hear conversations in noisy environments.
- You experience ringing or buzzing in your ears (tinnitus).
- You turn up the TV or radio louder than others prefer.
- You work in a noisy environment or have been exposed to loud sounds over time.
If you experience any of the above, then you should schedule an audiology assessment today.
